Last weekend was our first time ever racing at Rowrah! Challenging conditions made my task of learning the track even more challenging, however I was 8th fastest in my first practice session! Due to a DNF in one of my heats I ended up racing in the repechage. Thankfully I managed to finish in 3rd meaning I progressed into Final 1. After discovering my chassis was very bent I had a lot of work to do in Final 2. Suddenly it rained so Dad and Grandad worked very hard and managed to get me on a good set up for the wet conditions! I had a really good start and climbed a lot of positions, until loosing an engine mount, as well as very worn out brake pads! Holding onto my engine I managed to limp around and finish in 26th.
I’d like to thank my dad and grandad for their continuous hard work, Flex Motorsport for getting me up to speed very quickly, Chelsea and everyone for their support!
Next up: Shenington E Plate
A tough round at Clay Pigeon with challenges beyond our control. Practice demonstrated we had excellent pace and steady qualifying placed me 15th for both heats. In heat 1 I climbed to 9th, but a red flag meant the race was docked 1 lap so I finished 13th. In heat 2 I fought through to 10th but then got caught up in an incident with several karts which cost me 10 places. These results put me 26th on the grid for final 1. After gaining a few positions early in the race the kart in front crashed and caught the back of my kart as I went past causing major damage. Dad and Grandad worked hard to get the kart drivable for the final 2. Starting from the back I ended up 24th after a very scrappy race.
A huge amount of experience gained from racing in Super One and enjoying every moment of it. I’d like to say a big thanks to Dad and Grandad for their efforts and hard work this weekend especially in getting my kart out for Final 2, Brian Cole and everyone at Flex Motorsport, Chelsea Barker for despite not being there was watching me on live timing from home, and also Mum, along with my brother and Michelle for coming along to support me.
