First experience in Super One was definitely a learning curve and a great spirit!
Unfortunately too many mechanical problems resulted in a poor qualifying and therefore challenging heats.
We found the issue Sunday morning and swapped engines. We started from the back in Repechage and finished in 2nd, but was less than 500g underweight so got excluded!
Good to know we had potential to do well, but like thank Dad and Grandad for working on the kart, Brian Cole at Flex Motorsport, Pete Taylor and Tim Albone for the last minute help towards getting my kart on the grid, and iZone Driver Performance for the training and preparation towards my karting!
Next event: Britains Finest at Whilton Mill Kart Club

It was good getting back to my local track Shenington, as I hadn't raced there since March when finishing 2nd in the Winter Series. It was good testing my Tonykart on Saturday to find a good setup for Sunday and the Super One round this week. We looked very fast and competitive after a very progressive Saturday.
Sunday came and our pace was still good in the 3 lap warm up. Without managing to get a clean lap in I still ended up 9th fastest out of 22 drivers.
Timed qualifying was also good. There was some things I could have improved on but managed to qualify 6th overall which we were happy with. This meant that for both heats I would be starting 6th.
Both Heats weren't very good for me, unfortunately finishing 16th in Heat 1 and 14th in heat 2 after lots of contact resulting in me losing lots of places and struggling to find a race setup. This meant I would only be starting from 16th for the final.
We made a radical setup change for the final which ended up being extremely good. In the space of 5 laps I was already in 10th and catching the front runners, but then lost lots of power and eventually my engine seized resulting in a DNF.
Would like to say a massive thanks to both my Dad and Grandad for working well on the kart this weekend, Brian Cole and everyone at Flex Motorsport, Will Cooper for doing further physio to get my shoulder better for this weekend, Marie at Winning Health for acupuncture, and iZone Driver Performance for the training and preparation towards my karting.
Next up: Shenington Super One.
This was a very enjoyable weekend for me racing against the best in the country who were going for the O plate!
Timed qualifying was very unfortunate for me only qualifying 24th out of 30, but luckily we found some time to be had! This was always going to be hard with such a close, competitive grid!
Heat 1 I managed to gain 11 places so ended up finishing 13th.
Heat 2 I gained lots of places but then got pushed wide and lost a few places, however I fought my way back through to finish 22nd, so gaining 2 places was a positive!
Heat 3 I managed to cross the line 17th but then a 10 second bumper penalty unfortunately put me quite far back, despite not hitting anybody off.
For the Pre Final I qualified 19th and yet again I managed to gain lots of places but then being put on the grass meant I only finished 17th.
For the Grand Final I started 17th, got my head down and finished 10th after a great race!
I would like to firstly thank Dad and Grandad for all their hard work over the 3 days, Brian Cole and everyone at Flex Motorsport, Will Cooper Physio for getting my shoulder back up to strength after having a bad crash last month, Sarah Stamp at the Olive Tree for some fantastic cupping on my shoulder, and a massive thank you to iZone Driver Performance for preparing and training me for this weekend!
