After a challenging year facing lots of kart problems, we had a very positive weekend on a new Tonykart chassis. It didn’t take long to get used to at all, and with a tight engine that was barely run in, we were straight on the pace!
Race day started off with rain. We knew that timed qualifying could be challenging for me having not driven in the wet for over 2 years, as well as being against a competitive grid of 17 drivers.
We managed to qualify in 3rd place which we were extremely happy with. The rest of the day was sunny and dry after this session.
In Heat 1 we started 3rd, and finished 1st. Very happy with this result and enjoyed battling at the front.
In Heat 2 we started 1st and finished 6th. An unfortunate problem happened on the rear of the kart during the race which was unfortunate.
In the Final we lined up 2nd. After a tough start I brought the kart home in 8th. I made a bad choice with the setup but have learnt from it, and know what to do differently next time.
With these results we finished in 3rd place overall for championship points, which is a great result.
I would like to thank my Dad, Grandad, Georgia, and everyone in my family involved, as well as my sponsor Union Street Technologies for their great support.
