Back to the circuit I first started MSA karting at when I was 13 years old.The weekend was a big event with 44 drivers all competing to win the E Plate, but was also a good opportunity to get to grips with the track in preparation for the Super One Series next weekend.
Friday was a positive day having tried lots of different setups. Some worked very well, others not so much. On Saturday I really struggled, along with getting involved in a crash in the first heat. We made some overnight changes and hoped it worked on Sunday.
It certainly did! My second heat was in the morning which I was starting 21st in. After a collision at the start I slipped back to 25th, but got my head down and finished 12th. Our race pace was outstanding so was really looking forward to see what I could do in the final. My grid position was 25th. I made steady progress in the first lap making it up into 21st, but then felt a massive hit from behind and had my wheel wedged into someone's rear bumper. Unfortunately this meant I had to retire due to a left front puncture.
Not the result I wanted, but certainly found a good setup for Super One so really looking forward to it. As always a big thank you to my Dad and Grandad, and Flex Motorsport.
Also a big thank you for the amazing pictures Chris Walker at Kartpix, and Andre Marot.
